House Caramel is located on a dead-end street on top of a hill and was built entirely in the style and typical natural stone of the region. The house faces all the way south and has a breathtaking view over the fields full of sunflowers, wheat and vines for making the Cahors wines.

Absolute tranquility with a farm here and there in the landscape and an apparently abandoned church built entirely in the local yellow limestone, no background noise whatsoever except the wind (occasionally) and the screech of a bird of prey flying overhead. In short, something for those seeking peace and quiet and nature lovers! Around the house is a beautifully landscaped garden with lawn, direct access to the private swimming pool, which is only accessible to the tenants of the house.

There is also a landscaped petanque court and in the shed just a little higher on the slope there is a ping-pong table and accessories.

A BBQ is also available.

Interior

Caramel is a comfortable holiday home built in natural stone from the region, with a spacious living and dining area, beautiful and large adjacent outdoor terrace close to the secured swimming pool.

In addition to the indoor dining area, there is access to the kitchen, equipped with every comfort (dishwasher/refrigerator and freezer/microwave/warm-air oven and gas stove). There is also a washing machine and dryer.

From the kitchen there is access via a corridor to 4 bedrooms, 3 with a double bed each and 1 with 2 single beds. There is 1 bathroom with bath and 1 bathroom with shower (this is en suite with the 4th bedroom).

Outside, across the pool, there is a restored 'pigeonnier' with a downstairs bathroom and WC and a double bedroom upstairs. There is also a BBQ, petanque court and ping-pong table (the latter in the adjacent buildings).

Surroundings

The Caramel house in the new merged municipality of Porte-du-Quercy is located at the end of a dead-end road between vineyards and sunflower fields. From here you can take fantastic walks and bike rides (the GR 65 passes near the house).

You are also close to the Lot, along which a car-free and fairly flat, well-marked cycle route runs that follows the banks of the river and regularly crosses the river. Also on the Lot: fishing and kayaking options.

Just past Cahors towards St.-Cirq-Lapopie you can enjoy canoeing/kayaking (from Bouzies). There are many nice market towns in the area around Porte-du-Quercy, of which Montcuq with its fantastic Sunday morning market is the most important, in addition to that of Cahors with its market on Saturday and Wednesday mornings. The evening marchés gourmandes are also not to be missed and are typical for this region in South-West France.

You will find them in Belaye and Loubejac (don't forget to bring your cutlery!). There are also many cultural and music festivals: the Cahors blues festival in mid-July is world famous and attracts international artists. There are also music festivals in Montcuq in August. The region is also known for its many flea markets and shops.

Also be pampered by the region's fantastic gastronomy: foie gras in all kinds of forms, delicious Quercy melons and many other types of fruit such as nectarines and Agen plums, of course all topped with delicious Cahors wine.
