Our gite is a centrally heated 1st floor apartment sleeping 4 people in a double and a twin bedroom. The recent conversion retains some of the original features and charm of the old farm building, whilst providing up-to-date facilities in a light spacious setting.
The open plan living area has a modern fully fitted Kitchen with electric cooker (with full oven) microwave, dishwasher , washing machine and fridge freezer. The Dining Area has a large pine table which seats four adults with ease whilst in the Sitting Area there is a large Lshaped sofa and an armchair for you to relax in.
Satellite TV (English channels) and French Freeview Channels can be watched on the TV. A DVD player with a selection of DVDs is provided. Books and games can also be borrowed and a WiFi connection is available. This area also has a "Woodburner style" electric heater
There is a Double Bedroom with south facing views across the garden to the mountains whilst the Twin Bedded room looks out over rolling farm land. Both bedrooms have shutters which allow shade and ventilation. The family bathroom has a full bath with an over bath shower.
Outside there is a private terrace, with south facing views, equipped with a large Picnic style wooden table with benches, a parasol, sun loungers and a gas BBQ (if you require it). A large area of the garden is reserved for our Gite guests use only; this has a decking area, with sun loungers and parasol, and has lovely views to the mountains.
There is also a shaded play area for children, with swings and a wooden "play" house. From this area of garden there is access to our 8x5 metre swimming pool (which is shared by all at Pechine) and also to the green lane leading to the fields which have a 180 degree view over the valley to the Pyrenees . The Gite has its own access and private off road parking.
In the vicinity(mins 20) we have Carla Bayle, a pretty bastide village with an artist's community, a swimming lake and a tree-top adventure park ; Maz D' Azil with a Neolithic cave (which you drive through!), a dinosaur park and a local market on Wednesday. The underground river at Labuiche is an astounding trip " the cheddar caves by boat! " ; Martin D' Oydes is an unusual circular village (ask that Tony Blair ...his family holidayed there!).
Further afield (less than one hour or so) there are Churches, Castles and Caves, Medieval towns and villages, Markets and Museums and, of course, the landscape.. lakes, hills and lots of mountains!. There are wildlife parks to visit and you can go shopping "duty-free " in Andorra! You can dabble your toes in hot springs or in the sea (about 2 hours to the Med )
Things to do:
In the vicinity (mins 20) you can go horseriding, walk on marked trails, go swimming in a lake, cycling (remember the hills! but the Tour de France 2010 passed through Artigat) Going fishing in lakes and rivers or visit the Vertigo Sequoia (click here for details) an Adventure park with aerial ropeways.
